Explore the cave of the underground river with its intricate walls sculpted over thousands of years by the water’s flow. Listen to the rush of the river and enjoy this subterranean landscape.
From the Lower Paleolithic (300 000 BP) to the Middle Ages, humans intermittently occupied this site, where they left behind numerous tools and other artifacts.
But they were not the only guests … Other visitors, far more frightening, found refuge in the depth of the cave: cave bears.
The Grottes d’Azé stand apart from other European sites with their well-preserved cave bear and lion fossils.
